Most Shopify store owners would agree - Klaviyo is the unrivalled king of eCommerce Email Marketing.
But what if I told you that one of the “perks” of Klaviyo has given you a false sense of security - and is more than likely costing you tons of sales every single day?
Today, I’m going to teach you to think outside the box and supercharge your Flow performance with one-time tweaks that will pay you day after day for years to come.
As you probably know, every new Klaviyo account comes equipped with “pre-built” Flow Automations that you can quickly update with your branding and products to get live.
Great for brand new accounts.
But for established stores looking to scale? Not so much.
Klaviyo’s pre-built flow templates are the BARE MINIMUM.
Better than nothing, yes.
But if you’re using them as-is (or anywhere close), you are leaving ridiculous amounts of money on the table.
Make 2.6x More With Your Flows
My agency recently onboarded a client whose Abandoned Checkout Flow was generating $10.14 per subscriber who entered. Take a look:
Most store owners would say this flow is knocking it out of the park and never look deeper.
But having personally audited 80+ accounts in 2022, I instantly notice:
👉 They were using standard subject lines that everyone else uses from Klaviyo’s templates (i.e. “Forgetting something?”)
👉 Had little to no email content - just plug-and-play from Klaviyo's template
👉 Not sending enough emails and poor timing strategy on the ones they did send
Here’s How (Step-by-Step)
After we revamped this Abandoned Checkout flow, their revenue per subscriber jumped to $26.38 - or 2.6x as much.
What are the secrets you can leverage for your brand?
👉 Drive higher opens with unique, curiosity-driven subject lines
Never, ever use generic subject lines. The subject line is supposed to get attention, and that’s not gonna happen if your customers have seen the same tired “Forgetting something?” Subject Line from you in their inbox.
PRO TIP: Go through your own email inbox and look for any Abandonment Email subject lines from other brands that caught your eye. Add your spin and test them out against whatever you’re currently sending. In our testing, shorter subject lines outperform longer ones in Abandonment flows - so stick with 2-3 words if you can.
👉 Identify the reasons why someone might have abandoned and address each in order of priority
What are your customers biggest objections or points of confusion? High shipping cost? Not sure they’ll like the taste? Unsure about the quality of your garments?
Make sure you’re addressing each throughout your flow emails, using social proof, risk reversals or justification of costs or fees that may have stopped them at checkout.*
*We’re talking about Abandoned Checkout here. But these principles apply to all Abandonment Flows.
👉 Send more emails, make more money.
Our client’s original Flow only had 3 emails, which means a lot of sales were lost due to weak follow-up.
People are busy. Inboxes are flooded. Your emails get missed…like all the time.
As a rule, we send at least 5 Checkout Abandonment Emails. And all of them make sales. Take a look:
