Have you ever heard the saying, “New customers are the lifeblood of the business?” This is very true; new customers are critical, but whoever came up with this forgot to mention that it's 10x easier to sell to someone who already knows, trusts and likes you. I’m talking about cross-selling high-margin products to your existing customers and people that already know, trust and like you!

Below I have listed four segments to consider when cross-selling to your existing customers.

Segments:

1. Customers who have purchased in the last 90 days: These customers are more likely to be interested in making additional purchases, as they have already shown an inclination to buy from your store.

Pro Tip: A great way to make additional sales through cross-selling is to put together an Irresistible bundle in the order confirmation email. These emails get an 80% open rate and are an excellent place for an Irresistible cross-sell.

2. Customers who have NOT purchased in the last 90 days: These customers are still highly valuable even though they have not purchased in the last 90 days. By segmenting them, you can craft a cross-sell opportunity that will turn them into a frequent buyer.

Pro Tip: A great way to approach these customers is with an appreciation sale for past customers. You can use paid ads, email and SMS to get the word out about your exclusive sale.

3. Customers who have abandoned their shopping cart: These customers may be interested in completing their purchase if they are reminded of the items they left in their cart and offered a discount or other incentive to finish the purchase.

Pro Tip: You want to find out what prevents them from purchasing. Is it price? A Question? A great campaign to run is a messenger ad campaign on Facebook/Instagram where you can ask them via messenger!

4. Customers who have a high lifetime value: These are customers who have made a large number of purchases from your business over time and are, therefore, likely to continue buying from you in the future.

Pro tip: These are your dream customers, and you want to tell them how much you appreciate them. Give them first access to exclusive drops and limited edition items to give them more opportunities to buy from your brand.

It's important to note that these segments may vary depending on the specific products and customers that shop with your brand. Analyze your customer data to identify the most profitable segments and think of a way to cross-sell related products to them!

"Don't be in the business of selling; You should be in the "reordering' business. Make sure whatever it is that you are selling is so good that people will want to reorder it again and again."
